Our Story

From The Beginning...

We met online in July 2017, but didn't officially meet in person until the middle of August, due to Lindsey's work travel and Jay being away on family vacation. This separation was a blessing in disguise, as it gave us a chance to get to know each other at a relaxed pace.

From the beginning, we knew the other person was special. We texted day and night for two weeks straight, and even had several hour(s) long calls before we were able to meet in person. We just never ran out of things to say...and also continued to find weird coincidences that Lindsey claimed from the beginning were signs from God that we were meant to be....like when Lindsey told Jay that she almost named her firstborn Charles Daniels, after her grandmother who passed away while Lindsey was giving birth, and Jay responded by telling Lindsey that his nephew's name is Charles Daniel.

We would both say that our first date was the best first date that either of us had ever had - the conversation was so easy and the time flew by. Jay emailed Lindsey the next day asking for a second date and, as they say, the rest is history.

4 Years Making A Life Together

Although life today looks quite different for Jay from 4 years ago, we both are loving making a life together. Our relationship has been full of so many great memories complete with friends, games, and good food. Most weekends (when not at soccer or tee-ball games!) you'll find us hosting a barbeque, a game night, movie night, playdate, or trying out a new restaurant in town.

We have also packed a ton of travel into our years together, particularly given the pandemic! After knowing each other for only a few short months, we traveled to Germany to visit Lindsey's friends. On that trip, after getting "trapped" in Iceland together (twice!!), we both realized we had found a compatible travel companion - and perhaps life partner - in each other.

Hook, Wine, and Stinkers

Although many would call him crazy for it, Jay took the plunge and moved in with Lindsey, Charles, and Henry at the beginning of 2020. We joke that if we could make it together under one roof during a global pandemic, we can make it through anything. And, in July of 2020, we got engaged in our happy place, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, when we were closing on our very own beach house, which we named "Hook, Wine, and Stinkers."

Life is busy, but full, fun, and rewarding. And we both believe we have found the perfect partner to share life's trials and tribulations.

We look forward to celebrating with you all in September!
