How We Met
DECEMBER 13, 2013
Mike was invited by his friend Kyle to a trip to Chapel Hill, NC to see his first UNC Tar Heel basketball game. Kyle’s girlfriend (now wife), KC, invited Crystal to meet up with Kyle and his friends throughout the weekend. Crystal and Mike clicked right away but didn’t think anything was going to happen because they lived almost 5 hours away.
The following Monday, Crystal gets sent to DC for work and reached out to Kyle to meet up for dinner and subtly said, “Hey, feel free to invite the group of guys who came to NC.” Kyle read between the lines and only invited Mike and the rest is history!
The Proposal

Eight years later, Mike and Crystal moved into their first home together. Mike planned a weekend getaway to Crystal’s grad school stomping grounds at Baltimore, MD as a way to thank Crystal for managing the basement renovations…or that’s how he staged it! Little did Crystal know, Mike coordinated with the National Aquarium to pop the question with the help of Spirit the dolphin at the end of their behind-the-scenes dolphin training tour! Knowing how much Crystal loves dolphins, Mike pulled off the most perfect proposal and the ultimate surprise!
