Jenelle and Chris initially met at the Rockville Sportsplex when Chris subbed for Jenelle’s floor hockey team. Jenelle thought he was super cute and decided to “Play it cool” by not talking to him. Chris on the other hand, was trying to work up the courage to simply start a conversation with Jenelle. After the game, he gained the confidence to walk over to her, which was quickly shattered by the fact that Jenelle was hugging another man. Turns out that the other man was visiting from out of town and was in fact, her brother.

Fast forward two years. After two years of playing it cool and not finding love the old-fashioned way, Jenelle’s friend suggested they both try online dating. She was a little hesitant but agreed. After carefully writing a profile and selecting pictures, she was excited. Only one click away from true love! As she clicked the submit button, only one word returned on screen… REJECTED. Confused and frustrated, she called the company. They assured her that she didn’t violate any policies and that it would be fixed when she logged back in. Sadly, they lied. After multiple attempts of logging in and being denied, she gave up. Little did she know that the initial rejection would pay off in the end. It redirected her to a different site where she would receive a message from Chris.

Chris had previously tried online dating but quit after having no luck making any connections. Fortunately, Chris’s cousin told him how she had success on one particular site, so he decided to give it another go. This is where Chris stumbled upon Jenelle’s profile and remembered subbing for her team all those years ago. He immediately sent her a message and asked if she had ever played hockey at a gym called Barcroft. Jenelle responded no to which Chris responded with, Yeah, me neither. Jenelle was a little puzzled but continued with the conversation. After messaging back and forth, they found out they shared a lot in common. Their love of old school Simpsons and 90’s game shows made conversation a breeze. After exchanging a few more messages, Jenelle gave Chris her number.

They eventually decided to meet up in Old Town Alexandria. What they believed would be a quick first date escalated into 3 hours of walking a continuous loop around town. It would have been longer if Jenelle had worn proper shoes. Their first date was followed by playing hockey together, watching movies, snow tubing, dressing up like wrestlers, exploring new areas and restaurants, helping Jenelle’s roommates build a fort in the living room, winning claw machines, attending concerts, and endless laughter. Oh yeah, they also purchased a house together and couldn’t be happier living in Ashburn, VA.

Jenelle and Chris are excited to celebrate with you all in the spookiest way possible as they wed on October 31st, 2020.
