Kaitlyn and Dan swiped right in March of 2018 and quickly took their Hinge conversation to talking almost daily. While Dan was travelling for work they set up FaceTime dates before finally meeting in person (before Covid made it cool!). Their first date was brunch at Lavanga in Washington DC, which wouldn't have been complete without riding the metro back to Virginia together. After that first date, Kaitlyn and Dan bonded over a love of sports, going to baseball games and watching the Washington Capitals make their Stanley Cup playoff and bring home the Cup in the summer of 2018.

All through those early days of dating, Kaitlyn talked about wanting to adopt a cat. Finally, in September 2019, Dan took her to the Arlington Welfare League where they immediately fell in love with a black kitten they named Moose. Through three apartments and two years of working from home through a pandemic, Moose has been the constant center of attention.

On September 18th, 2020 Dan popped the question! He and Kaitlyn went up to the top of the Watergate Hotel for what was supposed to be birthday drinks, but Dan had other plans. He proposed at sunset overlooking the Potomac River, then he surprised Kaitlyn again by having family join them for a celebration after.
