Hiking through Shenandoah National Park in July means one thing: sweltering heat. Omar had chosen the route, a ten mile trail to the summit of Old Rag Mountain. The hike consisted of scrambling over countless boulders, squeezing through narrow passageways, and climbing up shallow rock faces.

The prize for these efforts should have been a sweeping view of the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. When Laura and Omar reached the peak, however, they saw nothing but clouds. Not a single peek of greenery, dip of the valley, or glimmer of the sun could be seen through the dense puffs of grey.

Imagine Laura’s surprise when the true reward of the hike was revealed. Just the two of them, up in the clouds, with Omar down on one knee, asking her to marry him.
