Our Story

Mara and Dennis grew-up 15 minutes apart from each other in Montgomery County, Maryland and somehow never met. However, it’s very possible they were at the same Ledo’s Pizza or Fuddruckers on a few occasions! They went to rival high schools, traveled in opposite directions for college - Mara in Rhode Island, Dennis in Arizona - and eventually came back to the Washington, DC area for work. Still, it took another 5 years for them to meet. You never know what you’re going to find in the online dating scene, but when Mara stumbled upon Dennis’ profile, she was intrigued. They matched, had a perfect first date, and the rest is history.

2020 Vision

Mara and Dennis had multiple European vacations planned and weddings to attend, but as all of us experienced in 2020, sometimes you have to adapt. They were stuck in their 1-bedroom apartment together for the unforeseeable future, but in typical Mara and Dennis fashion, they made the most of it - from trying new dinner recipes, to buying more plants, to doing lots of outdoor activities. Mara had no idea what Dennis envisioned to end the year on a high note.

Outer Banks

They planned a week-long beach vacation to the Outer Banks during Mara’s 30th birthday in September. Upon arrival, it immediately started storming. Mara was fine spending the afternoon inside, playing cards and listening to music, but Dennis was insistent that they get onto the beach. After checking the weather radar incessantly, they got to the beach around 5:00pm with a cooler full of mango White Claws. Mara had just cracked open her first drink of the trip, and next thing she knew, Dennis was on one knee, completely surprising her with the question of a lifetime. She said yes!

While we love all of the children in our lives, we have decided to make our wedding an adults-only celebration.

Accommodations

There will be shuttles picking up at Best Western and Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Town Center bringing guests to the ceremony. After the reception, shuttles will be picking up at Zion Springs and bringing guests back to the hotels. We also have a room block at The National Conference Center, although there will not be a shuttle. After midnight, guests are encouraged to use other transportation, such as Uber or Lyft.

Shuttle times will be communicated to you via text message as a reminder by Zion Springs. Please check back to view precise pick-up times.

Due to the high volume of weddings in the area, please book your hotels early as there was limited availability to secure room blocks.
