Our journey began on March 19, 2016 when we met on a dating website. After texting back and forth that night we decided to meet at a sports bar in Washington, DC the next day, Sunday, March 20. First meetings are notoriously awkward and usually wind up quite boring. However, after two hours we talked non-stop. Before the date was over, Chuck asked Susan for a second date for the following Friday, March 25 – and little did we know it would be the same date we marry seven years later! Â
Over the past six years we have traveled all over the United States and much of Europe. We even hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa in 2018! When we visit a new country we immerse ourselves in the culture, history, language and explore the country on foot and by bike. In October 2021 we bought our first RV and this summer we traveled across country stopping along the way to see both of our families and several friends. It was the adventure of a lifetime made so much richer by sharing it with the people we love and cherish. So far we have visited 30 states.Â
In addition to our shared love of life, we have each grown to love each other’s families and have shared many of our travel adventures with them. We traveled with Chuck’s family to Spain, The Czech Republic and Italy. In 2019 we toured Norway with Susan’s mother – her first trip to Europe and the country from where her father’s family immigrated. We took two adventure filed camping trips with Susan’s sister, niece and nephews to Montana and Idaho. While at home we spend quality time with Chuck’s children Andrew and Laura - we love our Sunday dinner’s with them. Chuck’s daughter Laura married Adam Abbruzzese on September 24, 2022. We are so happy for them and Adam fits perfectly into our family. Â
We are both blessed to have friendships that have embraced our relationship and welcomed us into their lives. Our friends span from coast to coast and have stood the test of time. We consider all of our friendships extensions of our family. Â
Our lives were made richer when we adopted our dog Maizie on April 26, 2020. The love she gives us and the love we have for her is a significant part of our story. Maizie travels with us all over the country and has made friends with many of you and your dogs. Â
Truth be told, we are both happy being single and neither of us had any plans or need to get married. But as the years passed we realized that our personalities, love of the outdoors, love of music and views on the world were perfectly aligned. And what we feel is so important; is we laugh together. Every day we find ourselves in full blown laughter. Our lives have intertwined into one and life is richer and more fulfilling together. We are true soulmates. Â
We thank all of you for being a part of our story. We know many – if not most – of you will travel from all over the country to celebrate our wedding and the beginning of a new chapter to our story. We wouldn’t be the people we are now without the love and support you have given to us and again, we thank you. Â
Our wedding weekend will be a joyous celebration and we can’t wait!
Much love
Susan and Chuck
